Granny smith apple is as green as grass and delicious like potato chips.

It sounds crunchy like a cookie and it smells nice like flowers.
The apple feels light like a ball and it is soft as pencils but also can be hard as a rock. It tastes yummy like mango, delicious like juice and sweet as an apple pie.

Our fruit of the week is seen on apple trees, in the fruit bucket and supermarket. It is used for eating and making drinks and apple pie.

The Granny Smith apple is healthy and gives you energy.

Netbook Description

My Netbook is special and it was given to me this year.

My netbook is black and it is shiny plastic on the outside. It feels hard and smooth.

When I open my netbook I see a screen and lots of black keys with white writing on them. When I login the sound sounds like ‘dan dan’. Sometimes my netbook makes sounds when I go on tux paint.

My black netbook is seen in the classroom and it is charged in the C.O.W and when it is  morning tea it is in the toot tray.

When I use my netbook I can use it to go on the internet to do my work and I love having it around.
We are some of the first people in New Zealand to use netbooks for our learning.

My netbook is very good for me because I can post stuff to my blog easily.

Orienteering Week 1

On Wednesday after morning tea Mrs Tui came to room three and told Mrs Deeney that Mr McGivern and Mrs Irene was coming to our classroom and they were coming to teach us how to do orienteering.

The first thing that he said was that we will use a map to look at. We put our hand up and answered lots of questions about using a map. Mr McGivern said we had to use a map because that’s what we follow.

After that we did some hunting in our classroom and we had to look for words. When we finished we went outside and did some orienteering on the field.

When we got outside we got are paper from Mr McGivern and they told us the rules. The rules were that we were not to go backwards and not to jump over the puncher because the puncher will break. When we played orienteering we ran around and we didn’t get lost. After that we went to morning tea.

Howick Historical Village

My favourite thing from our trip to Howick Historical Village was when room three went to make trolleys.

First of all we went to look at the instructions so we would know how we make the trolley. Mrs White told us to look at the photo so we would know how the trolley is going to look when it was finished.

The tools that we used were washers, nuts wood, bolts, metal sticks, wheels and pins. The trolley was hard to do because my friends were telling me “go there, go there” but when I got to look at the instructions I remembered what I was supposed to do. I went back and did my work, I knew what to do when I went back to my group and started.

I started off with doing the wood in the right place and then putting the bolts on it. We had to put a nut under the bolt and when we finished doing that we had to do the wheels.

My favorite thing about doing the wheels was when we had to put the wheels into the pole and after that we put the pin though the hole of the pole so that the wheel would not fall out.

After that we finished our trolley and we had to take it apart again because the next group was ready to have their go. It was all so much fun.

Tom and the Dragon

Once there was a boy called Tom, he asked his mother if he could go to the pier and his mother told him to be careful when he goes to the pier because there is a dragon who lives in a cave. “He’s dangerous”.

Tom went to the cave as he did not listen to his mother. The dragon said “do you want to play chess?” so they did but the dragon did not like to lose and he was sad so he nearly barbequed the little boy Tom. Fire came out of his mouth and after that Tom climbed on the dragons back and when Tom got on the dragon put his wings up which meant he wanted to fly. He flew and when he flew Tom fell into the water and he did not look down. If he was going to be scared the dragon would save him but he would end up in the dragon’s stomach.

The dragon got him out so at the end Tom’s mother and the dragon’s mother said hello and the dragon and Tom said “lets never be enemies”.

Oktapodi

Oktapodi is a short film it was set in Greece. We watched Oktapodi because we are learning to share our opinion. The characters are 2 octopus’ coloured is pink and orange, they are boyfriend and girlfriend.

The 2 octopus’ were hugging and then the man got the pink octopus and the boyfriend went after his girlfriend. When the octopus got on the truck the man punched the octopus so he could get off the truck. They crashed a little bit and then the octopus fell out. The octopus’ ran through the pools and then they tried to fly past the man. The man got them and smashed them on his truck and then the two octopus’ were saved but the man on the truck fell with the truck into the ocean. Suddenly a bird got the boyfriend and then the girlfriend tried to get him back.

I liked the movie because I liked it when the Octopus got smacked on the truck.

Holy Week

Holy week is the last week of lent. During  that time Jesus rode a donkey and when Jesus went  past the people waved palm leaves.

When Jesus went to the temple some people treated it like a market place. Jesus then went and healed the lepers.

Jesus told the disciples to “eat this bread and drink this cup, this is the cup of my blood” and then Jesus says to the disciples “so you can remember me”.

Jesus went up the mountain to pray to God because he was scared about dying on the cross. When Jesus got there he told God that he was scared.

Peculiar Person

I’m a most peculiar person,
As almost everyone knows.
I’ve a crown on the top of my head,
And nails grow out of my toes.

I’ve eardrums that help me hear.
And eyeballs that help me see,
And there’s even a mole on the tip of my nose,
Yes, there’s nobody quite like me.

I’ve got ‘mussels’ that grow in my arms and my legs,
And shoulder blades on my back.
I’ve a rib-cage to hold my heart in -
There’s really not much that I lack.

There’s a button that does up my tummy,
And my funny-bone keeps me amused.
When I look at myself in the mirror,
It’s no wonder I feel confused.

I’m a most unusual person,
And even my doctor agrees,
For that’s what he said when he came to examine
The caps that I have on my knees.

And I sometimes get pins and needles,
When it’s raining cats and dogs,
But what else could you really expect,
From a person whole throat’s full of frogs!
